Summer's here! 06/17/2010

Thanks for an awesome year.  We hope you have a blast trusting God wherever He may be leading you this summer.

If you're in Champaign-Urbana this summer, check out the Summer Bible Study, where we'll be studying 2 Timothy using The Navigators' Life Change series.

Email noah@illininavs.org if you'd like more info!  See you in August!

Reading Day Eve
Wednesday at 7pm @ Noah and Katie's house
705 W Green St, Champaign (7 blocks W of Neil on Green)
Parking available on New St
Bring a wrapped textbook!
Rides leave Undergrad Library loop at 7pm
You may be asking yourself, "Self, what's up with the wrapped textbook?"

If you were at NavNight this past week, you know that according to Illini Legend, on the night of Reading Day Eve, the Chancellor comes while students are sleeping and brings textbooks for all the good boys and girls in the dorms.  If you weren't at NavNight,  click on the Video tab and check it out. (ps. the dates on this version of the video are old, ignore them)

SO, we'd like you to bring a textbook (or another book) that you don't need anymore, wrapped in newspaper, wrapping paper, or whatever else you can find.  We'll be exchanging them White-Elephant style, which is sure to be a hoot.

Norm will also be reading "Twas the Night Before Reading Day", and a campfire (with SMORES) will follow.  You don't want to miss it!

Join us for the last NavNight of the semester this Thursday at 8pm.  We'll be hearing from some more of our seniors as a part of the night, worship, a great message from Norm, and info about the Reading Day Eve party and summer Bible Study.  And, of course, NavNight will be followed this week by NavNight After Party (NAP).  Hope to see you there!

This upcoming week will be a busy one!  See the calendar below for detailed times/locations.

Tuesday brings opportunities to hear from Dr. J,  a young earth creationist.  He'll present a perspective different from those you'll usually hear on campus.  All are welcome to attend, even skeptics.

Wednesday through Friday, we will be selling Threads of Hope bracelets on the Quad.  Make sure to stop in.  And of course, join us for to say goodbye to Jeff and Jess at NavNight on Thursday.  There will also be a baby shower for Jess and of course Ultimate on Friday.

Woo, I'm winded!  Busy week, but lots of awesome opportunities.  Check the calendar below for details and make plans to attend!

Hey friends.  We're back onto our normal NavNight schedule, 8-9:30pm on Thursday nights.  There's only FOUR of them left before the summer.  So make sure you join us.  This month, we'll be exploring the role of the heart in our walks of faith.  See you Thursday!

This week only, NavNight will be from 9-10pm, followed by NavNight After Party (NAP).

Why the change, you ask?  This week is Holy Week, the week leading up to Good Friday and Easter Sunday.  This Thursday is known as "Maundy Thursday" (pronounced maun-dee).  Many traditional and mainline churches celebrate Jesus' last meal with His disciples and His institution of the Lord's Supper (or Communion).  Many churches have services on the evening of Maundy Thursday.  As a staff team, we feel it is important for all of us to be connected with a local church in addition to involvement with The Navigators.  Holy Week provides a great opportunity to do so.

We've pushed back the NavNight time this week to free you to attend a Maundy Thursday service.  If your church doesn't have a Maundy Thursday service, we'd encourage you to tag along with a friend whose church does.

So remember, NavNight this week will start at 9pm, and NAP will follow!  Welcome back, and have a great week!

We have been talking about a lot of topics these past few weeks, including the role of the body in the life of a believer, sexual identity and purity, and dating and relating with the opposite sex. That is a whirlwind of topics and we figure that, while a lot of instruction has gone on, a lot more questions are rising to the surface. This upcoming NavNight all of the staff are participating in a panel discussion. We are asking you to go to this website, http://www.illininavs.org/questions.html, and anonymously write out some questions you have.  We'll do our best to answer your questions relating to the body, purity, dating, friendships, singleness, and whatever else you can think of that deals with these topics.

NavNight tonight!  8pm.  Jeff will be speaking.

Join us afterwards for NavNight After Party (NAP)!  See you there!

Break Time! 12/14/2009

It's almost here!  Finals week is happening and all are preparing for the winter break.  Remember elementary school?  It's like a month-long recess.  Yeah it's that cool.  The Navigators at least formally, are going out for recess as well.  But that doesn't mean the "knowing Jesus and making Him known" action is going to stop.  Winter break is a great time to reflect, rest, and recreate, so do your best to keep your Bible open and your heart and mind on the Lord in the upcoming weeks.  Keep your eyes open and ask God for opportunities to share about your faith in Christ with other family and friends who God may be working in.

Check back here at the end of January for more info on the upcoming spring semester.  NavNights will resume, same time/same place on Thursday January 21st, followed by a "Soup-er" reunion with your friends the next day.  More details to come.

Have a great break!

But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for the reason for the hope that is in you....  1 Peter 3:15

While other people might have a regular old Christmas party, we spice it up by having a Christmas par-tay. On Wednesday, December 9th we are gathering at Jeff and Jess Clochesy's house at 7pm for Christmas goodies, Christmas competitions, and all other sorts of Christmas festivities. To get in the mood, why not wear your most ridiculous Christmas sweater/suspenders/hat/whatever else you might have that is weird but Christmas-like and inspires merry-making? Rides will be leaving the Undergrad library fifteen minutes prior to the party. That is, rides will be leaving at 6:45. Too busy studying to come to the Christmas Partay? Please. Reading day is the very next day and we all know that it is unheard of to allow studying to interrupt a sweet partay. Jeff and Jess' house is located in Champaign at 1718 Park Haven.
