ILLINI NAVS
The student chapter of The Navigators at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign... has been living and sharing the gospel on campus for over forty years. What sets us apart as a ministry is a strong emphasis on spiritual transformation through the practice of spiritual disciplines (like Scripture memory and prayer) in relationships of spiritual mentoring.
A FEW OF OUR PRIMARY VALUES:
1. STRONG FRIENDSHIPS
- meeting lifelong friends as you grow together in Christ
- experiencing fellowship that is both stretching and encouraging
- reaching out to your non-Christian friends together with like-hearted friends
2. BIBLE READING
- finding your rhythm in personal devotions that are consistent, thorough, and practical.
- growing a life of memorizing & meditating on Scripture
- interacting with others in probing and personal Bible Study groups
3. CONVERSATIONAL PRAYER
- discovering the art of talking daily with God about the things you are doing together
- praying faithfully over the promises & principles in Scripture
- engaging with like-minded friends in focused times of cooperative prayer
4. INTERPERSONAL EVANGELISM
- living with integrity as a friend among non-Christian friends
- facilitating Bible discussions with friends who don't believe in Jesus
- learning to take appropriate initiative under the leading of the Holy Spirit
5. GLOBAL CONNECTION
- fasting and praying for hurting people in our world
- giving our resources to advance the Kingdom and alleviate poverty
- going abroad on short-term missions trips to assist indigenous ministries
